So overall I would NEVER stay at this hotel again. There were too many little issues with this hotel. They have not been open very long and it seems that's the only reason it is still in decent shape but I'm afraid that in another 6 months to a year the quality will be even worse. It seems that some staff training is needed in many areas-often a reflection on the general manager(but that's just my opinion). So in my opinion if you have to stay in Gallup-find another hotel!
The positives
The one and only downside to our room was that the closet was super tiny. Everything else was perfect! Friendly staff, fridge in the room, they delivered and helped set up the pack & play and a fantastic complimentary breakfast (not just cereal and bagels, but lots of fruit, bacon and salsa to top your scrambled eggs!).
First of all there was a lamp that only worked intermittently-if it decided to work it would-so we dealt with a dark room half the time. There was hair in the floor in the bathroom and on the vanity. The shower curtain had red stains on it-was it blood? I don't know and really didn't want to think about it but it was all over a very white shower curtain-so it was pretty noticeable. There was also black spots on the wall and caulking around the sink in the bathroom. Was it mold? I'm not sure but like the shower curtain I really didn't want to know definitively. Also the air conditioner would only run on the low fan speed-not a huge deal but I wanted it on high so just another irritant to an otherwise already irritating hotel stay.
Now onto the room
Overall
Very disappointed in this hotel. First of all we were not informed that the pool was closed upon check in so we checked in, changed clothes, and went to the pool only to be left with 2 young crying children because they had their hearts set on swimming. If that had been all of our issues I wouldn't have given a 1 star review. When we asked about the pool being closed the individual working the front desk told us we *might* be able to go down the street to a different hotel as the manager had done that earlier with other individuals. It was after 9 o'clock at night with 2 young kids that were going to get to swim for 20 minutes-this was not an option for us. We were not offered any kind of apology for the pool being closed-just a shoulder shrug and an oh well.
Very nice hotel very friendly. Clean spacious room with 2 queen beds and large bathroom. Microwave and refrigerator. Very nice breakfast bar included. Waffles, egg, sausage.... very reasonable rates also.
While there weren't too many positive things to say about this hotel I must say that the breakfast was pretty good. The fresh watermelon was delicious and the lady that was working the front desk in the morning was extremely professional and pleasant to deal with-she did her job well and I appreciated that.
Nice King Suite. Reasonably priced. Well stocked breakfast. But... Noise easily travels through walls, ceilings and floors. Inadequate parking. Not exceptionally easy access.
Newly built but n construction noise. Super clean and spacious. Pets are allowed with $35 deposit. But they don't charge you unless your pet messes up the room. Breakfast was good. Lots of choices in a bright relaxing atmosphere. Staff was courteous, friendly & helpful. The only complaint we had was a/c in room didn't keep an even temperature. The beds were comfortable w/ lots of pillows. Quiet room even tho I was next to an elevator. Couldn't hear the trains from inside .... So that was a plus.
